  • What is Diverticulitis?

    • Presence of pockets (an outpouching of a hollow (or a fluid-filled) structure in the body) in colon wall is called diverticula. Inflammation or infection of this pockets is called diverticulitis.
    • The formation of pouches or sacs on the intestinal lining is called diverticulosis.
    • Diverticulitis is when these pockets become inflamed or infected.
